Show off your fiber arts skills! Enter a competition!
Entrants in all competitions must pick up their items by 5pm, Saturday. Entrants unable to pick up an item at 5pm, Saturday, must leave postage and packing materials if they want their items mailed to them. Any items not picked up or left with postage & packing will become the property of Hoosier Hills Fiberarts Festival.
1. Spinning Competition: Skeins must be at least 2 ounces in weight and wound on a 2 yard niddy noddy. Skeins must be tied in 4 places with figure eight ties. Leave skeins to hang loosely. State fiber content and intended use.
Entry: Saturday 9-12
Entry fee: $3 for each skein entered. Fill out one entry form for each skein entered. Choose from categories below.
Beginner: Spinning one year or less
a. 2 ply wool yarn
b. 2 ply exotic fiber (mohair, alpaca, angora)
c. 2 ply new age fibers (soy, bamboo, etc.)\
e. Novelty yarn
d. 2 ply any fiber or combination of fibers
Experienced: Spinning more than one year.
a. 1 ply any fiber, judged on consistency of technique.
b. 2 ply wool, judged on consistency of technique.
c. 2 ply exotic fiber (mohair, alpaca, angora), judged on consistency of technique.
d. 2 ply new age fibers (soy, bamboo, etc.), judged on consistency of technique.
e. 2 ply any fiber or combination of fibers, judged on consistency of technique.
f. Novelty, any fiber or combination of fibers, judged on ability to produce a distinct yarn.
2. Fiber Art Competition:
Entry: all day Friday
Entry fee: $3 per item. Fill out one entry form for each skein entered. Choose from categories below.
a. Knit: functional.
b. Woven: functional.
c. Crochet: functional
d. Wet felted (not knit, crochet or woven): functional
e. Knitted or crocheted, then fulled: functional
f. Art: framed, mounted pieces and wall hangings
